What Went Wrong?

Is a song I wrote in memory of George Floyd, produced by Dallas Cooper.

Like so many people, I watched the events surrounding George Floyd unfold on national television with disbelief, sadness, and heartbreak. It was difficult to witness a human life being lost in such a painful and devastating way, especially while hearing George repeatedly plead that he couldn’t breathe over twenty times.

What struck me deeply was the overwhelming feeling of helplessness. So many people watching wanted desperately to step in, to help, and to save his life. Yet we could only watch as a situation unfolded that should never have happened.

George Floyd was a father, a son, a brother, a friend, and a human being whose life mattered. His final moments touched people around the world and sparked conversations about compassion, justice, accountability, and the value of every human life.

This song is not simply about anger or tragedy It is about remembering George Floyd as a person and honoring his life and the impact his story has had on so many people.  George Floyd has sparked a global awakening, driving empathy, social awareness, and compassion actions. It has reshaped the fields of love!

For me, writing “What Went Wrong” became a way to process the pain, the questions, and the emotions and answers that followed. Music has always been one of the ways I make sense of things that are difficult to put into words.

George Floyd’s name and story will forever remain a part of our history, our conversations, and, for me, our music.

May his family continue to find strength, and may we never lose sight of the humanity behind the headlines.

George Floyd will be remembered. His life mattered. His legacy will live on.
